Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s most ambitious project Bajirao Mastani is in the news, but for all the wrong reasons. The film is set to release on December 18 and stars Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles. But with the ongoing protest by the historians and descendants of Peshwa against the film, the future of the film seems to be dark.
Since the time the makers launched the first song of the film, Bajirao Mastani has been on the talk topic of the town. Even though song ‘Pinga’ featuring Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra was appreciated by many, but it did disappoint the descendants from the Peshwa family. Right from the style of dancing to the kind of clothes worn by the leading ladies in ‘Pinga’ was completely wrong, says the open letter written by one of the descendants from the Peshwa family.
After this, the makers of ‘Bajiao Mastani’ were slammed by many and were accused of distorting the facts of history. We have now learnt that a petition has been filed in a Pune Metropolitan Magistrate Court against the makers. The petitioner named Firoze Mohammad Shaikh has filed a case against SLB, Priyanka and Deepika citing the incorrect portrayals of characters in the film leading to the distortion of the history.
With protesters wanting the film to be banned, it would be interesting to see whether the film is able to make it to the big screen or not.
