You simply can’t measure her efficiency as an actress with the number of hits she has delivered. After her scintillating performance in ‘Kahaani 2: Durga Rani Singh’, Vidya Balan is back with ‘Begum Jaan’ and how!
Last night, the actress tweeted the first poster of the film and we can’t get over the earthy look she is effortlessly carrying. (Also Read:Â Did Vidya Balan just hint at working with Rajinikanth?)
‘Begum Jaan’ revolves around misery of women on the backdrop of partition of India, and is set in rural Punjab. Helmed by national award winner Srijit Mukherjee, the film is inspired by his Bengali film ‘Raj Kahini’.
Apart from Vidya, the film also stars Gauahar Khan, Ila Arun, Pallavi Sharda in pivotal roles.
“My onscreen character raises a very important question — why are a woman’s actions controlled by her father, brother, husband or son? So she decides not to allow anyone to take away her space, be it in terms of property or her physical self. The script and the story are really very different and attractive,” Vidya described her character, in one of her earlier interviews.
The film is set to release on April 14.
