Ali Abbas Zafar’s ‘Bharat’ was meant to be Priyanka Chopra’s comeback to Hindi films. The desi girl was last seen in Prakash Jha’s ‘Jai Gangaajal’ that released in 2016. Unfortunately, Priyanka couldn’t be a part of ‘Bharat’ and she walked out of it just a few days before the film was supposed to go on floors.
Both Salman Khan and Zafar have spoken about Priyanka’s unceremonious exit from the film. Now, finally producer Atul Agnihotri has opened up about the same.
Talking about the ‘Barfi’ actress’ sudden exit from his film, Atul told Pinkvilla, “Priyanka still hasn’t texted me. She never spoke to me about walking out of Bharat. It was a message I received on the set. I was like, ‘It’s okay, yeh ho gaya. But let’s now fix it’. The news came to me via people.”
He further added, “I understand she was getting married and was in love. So, it’s okay because that’s the bigger decision of her life. Of course, it’s great to discover and find love and it’s even better to marry the person you love. I wish her all the best for her life. That one day, I could have felt a little different, but at the end of it, when you see things from the hindsight, it’s fine.”
Interestingly, Atul also revealed that Katrina was always his first choice for ‘Bharat’. Well, as they say, what is meant to be will always happen no matter what. Looks like Katrina was bound to do this film with Salman.
‘Bharat’ is slated to release on June 5.
