Bhediya director Amar Kaushik on Stree 2: I never wanted to make it on market pressure

Shraddha Kapoor, RajKummar Rao starrer Stree which was also a horror-comedy was one of the successful films of 2018. The film was a sleeper hit and movie buffs absolutely loved the concept. Since then Amar Kaushik went on to introduce more films in his horror-comedy universe but fans simply can’t get over Stree. Having said that, the sequel of the same was also making circulating in the media and now, director Amar Kaushik gives a possibility of the same.

During an interview with Pinkvilla, Amar revealed that he never wanted to make Stree 2 under market pressure whenever people used to ask him for the sequel. However, now, he has an idea and the Stree sequel can be the next film after Bhediya.

Amar Kaushik on Stree 2:

Amar said, “Ever since the release of Stree, people have been asking me about the Stree sequel. There were some ideas, but I never wanted to make Stree 2 based on market pressure for the money. If I make films for such reasons, we would all fall flat on our faces. I am aware that people will compare the sequel to the first part, and we want to take things a notch high, at the script level itself. To answer your questions, yes we have got an idea and Stree 2 might be the next film.”

Amar Kaushik is now gearing up for the release of Bhediya which stars Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Abhishek Banerjee and Deepak Dobriyal. The film has Varun as Bhediya who turns a wolf during lunar eclipses after being beaten by the animal. It is a tale of a man who struggles with his inner beast and humanity while his friends help him to recover from the wolf venom.

Bhediya is slated to release on 23 November 2022.
