Actress Bhumi Pednekar may be just three-films-old in Bollywood, but she has made a mark for herself with all the three films and is amongst the A-league actresses today. Starting out with a YRF movie, Bhumi worked with Ayushmann Khurrana, followed by Akshay Kumar in ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’. The actress recently said that she believes she has been able to break stereotypes in Bollywood about heroines.

Speaking at the India Today Safaigiri Awards 2017, Bhumi said, “I have been able to break the stereotype in Bollywood about heroines. I got the chance to be a Yash Raj Films heroine, but it was nothing like the glamorous heroines on the big screen.” Her debut flick ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ depicted fat-shaming, her second movie ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ depicted the issue of hygiene and more toilets in villages while her third movie ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ dealt with the issue of erectile dysfunction. So, each of her movies had an important message to give. (Also Read: Bhumi Pednekar is excited as she goes the ‘Chambal’ way for her next)

Speaking further the cleanliness campaign, she said, “I think Safaigiri and our relationship has already begun, and in some years, our love story will be complete. It is necessary to bring change at an individual level. I am glad the kind of steps that the government has taken for cleanliness are helping us move towards a better India.”

With the kind of movies that Bhumi does, people have assumed that she is not a fashionable person in real life too. However, Bhumi spoke about the same in an earlier interview by saying, “The kind of films I do, people assume that I am not a fashionable person but I am an urban girl and I have always been fashionable. I think people are noticing it more because my films have done well… I am that girl who takes time getting ready.”

Talking about her future projects, she will be seen in a movie called ‘Chambal’ opposite Sushant Singh Rajput.
