Bhumi Pednekar, who made her Bollywood debut with ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’, has started shooting for her upcoming film ‘Womaniya’. She is currently awaiting ‘Sohchiriya’s release, which is scheduled to release on March 1. Bhumi Pednekar has earlier impressed the audience with her outstanding performances in movies such as ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ and ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’.
In her Hindi film debut, Bhumi Pedenkar had put on weight to portray the role of an overweight young girl named ‘Sandhya’. In ‘Toilet Ek Prem Katha’, her role as a young and progressive woman belonging to a small town was appreciated by all. In ‘Shubh Mangal Savdhan’, the 29-year old actress essayed a small town girl ‘Sugandha’, and now, finally, in ‘Sonchiriya’, Bhumi will be seen in a never seen before avatar.
Did you watch the trailer of ‘Sonchiriya’? She looks unrecognisable in the film, doesn’t she?. But do you know that she had to go through long-hours of make-up sessions to look unidentifiable? In Abhishek Chaubey’s ‘Sonchiriya’, Bhumi Pednekar will be seen playing the role of a village girl from 1970s Chambal.

Ever since the trailer of the film was released, Pednekar’s role has been widely appreciated on social media. “She wore a lot of make-up for the film to make her skin look sunburnt, weather-beaten, pigmented. The idea was to get her tanned down 3 to 4 shades to make her resemble someone who works under the sun in the arid, hot, burnt Chambal valley. It was quite a process every single day for her to look the part,” reported Pinkvilla.
