Bipasha Basu’s outfit is a BIG no-go, courtesy its abrupt elements!

Today is going to be one of those days when we’ll need to gulp down our guilt for disliking Bipasha Basu’s sartorial choices. The gorgeous actress, who celebrated her 39th birthday yesterday, had recently attended the Sephora store launch in Kolkata in a not-so-fashionable look. So, why exactly are we saying so? Bipasha was seen wearing a cream Shantanu and Nikhil gown that she clubbed with a cropped military-inspired jacket at the event. Although we tried hard to be reasonable and soak in the beauty of the Bong bombshell, we couldn’t help but get disappointed with the outfit of the day. For starters, the full-length, ruffled gown (or shall we call it layered?) had abrupt, folded layers that totally couldn’t do justice to the diva’s towering persona. Cinched at the waist with a broad embroidered patch, the number had a plunging neckline with a sheer mesh panel. We think the designers should have either steered clear of a risqué neckline or not ruined the outfit with a sheer panel covering the décolletage.

The actress teamed up the look with a navy blue jacket that ended awkwardly above the waist and killed the overall impact of the dress. Take a close look and you’ll see that the cropped shrug has huge gold buttons and military-style gold embroidery on the sleeves and shoulder that looked out of place. Bipasha completed the look with bold red lips and slick straight hairdo that, in a way, saved the look from drowning.

The eerie gown did feel a bit much for the event and we wish she had simply stuck to a dressy t-shirt and pair of jeans with that jacket.
