Shah Rukh Khan was slammed by a senior BJP leader for his stance against rising religious intolerance in India in a series of tweets on Twitter. Hindutva’s sadhvi Prachi too slammed the Happy New Year actor. They called the actor a Pakistani spy with his soul in Pakistan and living in India, even asked him to move to the neighbouring nation.
Many political leaders and celebrities stood up in defence of the actor slamming Kailash Vijayvargiya and Sadhvi Prachi. After some strong criticism by the leaders, Vijayvargiya retracted his statements.
He tweeted,
“I did not intent to hurt anyone. I take back my tweets. Shah Rukh wouldn’t have been the most popular actor after Amitabh Bachchan had India been intolerant. My tweets were misunderstood by some.”
Shah Rukh Khan speaking on the attack on him said firmly, “You have no right to tell me if I can stay in this country. Nobody has the right to stay in this country as much as I have so don’t tell me to go from this country… So please shut up and I mean that’s it!”
Congress too has taken up cudgels for the actor asking Prime Minister Narendra Modi to speak on the matter soon.
