Bobby Deol recalls ‘drinking a lot’ during low phase: My son asked his mom why was I sitting at home while she was working

Brothers Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, are all set to grace the couch of Koffee With Karan 8 this week. The promo of the episode saw them engaging in some fun banter with host Karan Johar. But the show will have its deep and intense moments as well. One of those include Bobby talking about his low phase in career.

Bobby Deol on the low phase in career

Today, Bobby is in great phase in his career with the success of shows like Ashram, Class Of 83 and films like Love Hostel behind him. He even has an intriguing part in Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal ahead. His look from the film’s teaser has already created quite a rage. But there was a time when the actor was going through a lull in his career.

Speaking about that on KWK 8, Bobby said, “I gave up, I started pitying myself. I just took on drinking a lot, I was sitting at home. I used to keep cursing and saying, why don’t people take me? I am good, why don’t they want to work with me? I think I became so negative about everything, that there was no positiveness coming from me. I used to sit at home, my wife works.”

Bobby Deol shared that it was a comment to his wife from his son that acted as a trigger for him to get out of that phase. “Suddenly I heard my son saying, you know mom, papa sits at home and you go to work everyday. Something snapped in me. I just said, no I can’t! It was a slow process. When I got out of it, it took me time to get into the right mind frame to become okay. It can’t happen overnight.”

The actor on family support

The actor also acknowledged his family’s support through his tough time. Bobby shared, “My brother, my dad, my mom, my sisters, they were always there. You cannot always do anything holding someone’s hand. You have to walk on your two feet. Then things started changing. I became more focused, more serious and when you focus and you have that energy in you. I mean I have gone and met so many people. And I said to myself, I will go and meet people, tell them I want to work with you all. I came to you (Karan) also, you still haven’t worked with me.“

It would be exciting to see what Karan said on the prospect of working with Bobby. Meanwhile, KWK 8 comes with its second episode on Thursday midnight.
