The horrendous incident of attacks on the students and staff of JNU has left the entire nation shocked. On Sunday night masked goons had entered the JNU campus and brutally thrashed the students. Several Bollywood celebs came forward to condemn the attacks.
Last night at Carter Road several celebs like Anurag Kashyap, Dia Mirza, Taapsee Pannu, Richa Chadha, Vishal Bhardwaj and Zoya Akhtar joined the protest against JNU violence.
As per a PTI report, addressing the crowd at Carter Road, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap said, “We are with the students of all the three universities (Aligarh, Jamia and JNU) who were attacked. We want to tell them, we are with them and we will stand for them every time. I condemn the way police are controlled. We stand by the students and they are our inspiration.”

He further added, “We aren’t fools. We are watching. We know how riots are caused, how these situations are created. We can see what you want to do and what’s your intention and where you are taking us. We won’t let you take us there.” Swara Bhasker added, “We have reached that stage in this country where we have shown enough respect to the government, the law and order machinery, which have repeatedly failed to fulfil their responsibility.”
Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj recited a poem expressing his solidarity towards the JNU students.

Everyone gathered also sang the National Anthem towards the end of the protest. Emotions were high, people were seen crying, consoling and supporting each other.
A phenomenal night at Mumbai’s Carter Rd. The directors (Kashyap, Bhardwaj, Sinha, Akhtar) calmly directed, the singers and poets sang and recited, the actors (Richa, Taapsee, Dia, Swara, Ali) chimed in, the audiences watched and participated. Truly a Bombay blockbuster. pic.twitter.com/Krx1t09SoQ
