Bollywood singer Ankit Tiwari gets Bail in Rape case

Bollywood’s newbie playback singer Ankit Tiwari who had been languishing in police custody on rape charges has been granted bail. Ankit, who has been charged of raping his girlfriend several times after falsely promising her marriage, was granted bail by a session court on a surety of Rs. 15,000.

The victim, who is said to be his girlfriend, complained that he had sexually assaulted her since July 2013, after assuring her marriage, but failed to keep his promise. Ankit’s brother Ankur was also arrested for allegedly threatening the woman with dire consequences if she made the sexual assault public.

As per sources, Ankit’s lawyer Nagesh Mishra said, “We had filed for bail on May 13 on the grounds that the prosecution had collected enough evidence against the accused. We had also ensured the court that we would fully co-operate with the investigation, whenever the police would ask us to.”

Ankit Tiwari is best known for Best known for his popular song ‘Sun Raha Hai Na’ from the movie ‘Aashiqui 2’.
