The release date of ‘Bombairiya’ has been pushed to another date now. Earlier, it was slated to release on January 11. But now, it has been shifted to January 18. The movie stars Radhika Apte, Siddhanth Kapoor, Akshay Oberoi, Shilpa Shukla and Adil Hussain in lead roles.
‘Bombairiya’ is a comedy-drama. The trailer was released last year where we saw Radhika as a film publicist whose mobile gets snatched by a thief. She goes after the thief as her phone has an MMS; the leakage of which could stain her image and the Bollywood actor involved in it. The MMS is of a lovemaking scene between Radhika and the Bollywood actor.
It is the directorial debut of Pia Sukanya, and the movie is inspired by British-born producer Michael Ward. He has stayed for 13 years in Mumbai with Sukanya. Sukanya and Michael are now husband and wife.
Earlier, in a statement by Ward to IANS, he said, “‘Bombairiya’ is our ode to the city of Mumbai, a place full of contradictions and wonderment, a city where anything is possible. And like in our film, a city which can bring together strangers, turn them into ‘frenemies’ and eventually into buddies. All within the space of one day.”
Sukanya, on directing her first film said, “Little did I think that I would have to land up directing myself. But filmmaking teaches us how to cope with a new challenge each day. It’s been a wonderful experience shooting ‘Bombairiya’ so far and as we continue shooting, I anticipate even more challenges. But with the unwavering support of my producer, Michael and my brilliant set of actors, every day on sets threw up unexpected blessings.”
