A case has been registered against film-maker Karan Johar over the AIB Roast show. However, The Bombay High Court on Friday restrained the city police from taking coercive action against him till the 16th of March, the next date of the hearing.
The court had last week restrained Pune police from taking any coercive action against 14 persons, including Johar and actors Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, for allegedly using obscene and abusive language at AIB Roast show held in Mumbai.
Tardeo police station in Mumbai has registered a case against 14 people, including the president of the National Sports Club of India Jayantilal Shah, its general secretary Ravinder Aggarwal, organisers of the Knockout, Johar, Ranveer Singh, Rohan Joshi, Tanmay Bhat, Gursimran Khamba, Ashish Shakya, Aditi Mittal, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Rajeev Masand and Arjun Kapoor.
The present FIR, registered by Mumbai police, is based on a complaint filed by the activist Santosh Daundkar.
The court has now clubbed both the matters and directed the state government to file its reply to two petitions which seek to quashing of FIRs.
