Actress Jiah Khan‘s death had left everyone shocked. It’s been more than 4 years now that the actress passed away, but the mystery over her death still prevails. Whether she committed suicide or was it a cold-blooded murder is something that we are yet to find out. Sooraj Pancholi, Jiah’s boyfriend, had been accused by the actress’ mother for killing her daughter. The court is yet to pass a judgement in this case and it looks like, justice is far, even now. The Bombay High Court has asked the lower court to not start with the trial proceedings until it hears the petition filed by CBI against Maharashtra government’s decision to appoint a special prosecutor in this case.
Justice AK Menon states, “This is a matter that involves two agencies (the police and the CBI). There are larger issues involved. The high court will have to consider if the government can appoint a special prosecutor in a case where the prosecuting agency is the CBI.”
CBI counsel Hiten Venegaonkar informed the high court that the trial court was not allowing CBI prosecutor to argue after the special prosecutor was appointed. The counsel informs, “The special prosecutor appointed is the same lawyer who represented the victim’s mother, Rabia Khan, in her petition against the CBI probe in the case.” (Also Read: Read all that Sooraj Pancholi’s sister has to say about the Jiah Khan episode)
Justice Menon later confirms, “We request the advocate general to appear in the matter next week. Till the next date of hearing, the sessions court shall not proceed with the case before it.”
Let’s see what happens next.
