Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on September 9 in connection to the drugs probe related to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. Earlier today, the actress was granted bail by the Bombay High Court.

Previously, in their affidavit opposing Rhea’s bail plea, NCB had alleged that Rhea and her brother Showik were a part of the drug syndicate as the siblings were connected to high-profile drug peddlers. Today, quashing NCB’s allegations, the court in its bail order has clearly stated that Rhea is not a part of any chain of drug dealers. Read on to know the details of the court’s order.

According to a Live Law’s report, the Bombay HC in their order granting bail to Rhea in NDPS case said, “She is not part of drug dealers. She has not forwarded the drugs allegedly procured by her to somebody else to earn monetary or other benefits.”

The court also added, “Since she has no criminal antecedents, there are reasonable grounds for believing that she is not likely to commit any offence while on bail.”

The court further elaborated, “There are reasonable grounds for believing that she is not guilty of any offence punishable under Sections 19, 24 or 27A(of NDPS Act) or any other offence involving commercial quantity.”

Rejecting NCB’s argument that celebs must be treated harshly to set an example, the court said, “I do not agree. Everybody is equal before the law. No celebrity or role model enjoys any special privilege before the Court of law. Similarly, such a person also does not incur any special liability when he faces law in the Courts. Each case will have to be decided on its own merits irrespective of the status of the accused.”

Rhea was granted bail on the personal bond of Rs. 1 lakh. Sharing the conditions of her bail the HC was quoted saying by ANI as, “Rhea should mark her presence for 10 days in the police station after release, deposit her passport, not travel abroad without court permission & inform the investigating officer if she has to leave Greater Mumbai.”

Meanwhile, Rhea’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde has reached Byculla jail to proceed with the bail’s procedure.
