Boney Kapoor on aftermath of Sridevi’s death: I was interrogated for 24 hours, went through lie detector tests

Sridevi was one of the most loved actresses in the industry. Sridevi passed away after she accidentally drowned in a bathtub in her hotel room after losing consciousness on 24^th February, 2018. Now, in a recent interview, Boney Kapoor opened up about his wife’s death. The filmmaker revealed that Sridevi often followed strict diets without salt and had BP issues. Boney Kapoor also shared that he was interrogated for 24-48 hours after Sridevi’s death in Dubai.

Speaking with The New Indian, Boney Kapoor said, “It was not a natural death, it was an accidental death. I had decided not to speak about it because I spoke about it for almost 24 or 48 hours together when I was being investigated and interrogated. In fact, the officers said we had to go through this because there was a lot of pressure from Indian media. And they discovered there was no foul play. I went through all the tests, including lie detector tests and all those things. And then, of course, the report which came clearly stated it was accidental.”

The filmmaker went on to share that Sridevi was on a diet during the time of her death. “She often used to starve, she wanted to look good. She wanted to make sure she’s in good shape, so that on-screen, she looks good. From the time she was married to me, she had blackouts on a couple of occasions, and the doctor kept on saying she had a low BP issue,” revealed Boney.

Furthermore, Boney Kapoor recalled an incident and said, “Later when she passes away, Nagarjuna had come home to offer his condolences, and he told me that during one of her movies, she was again on a crash diet, and that’s how she fell in the bathroom and broke her teeth.”

Adding to that, Boney said that after they married, he knew about her habit of following strict diets and that he would tell doctors to advise her to add salt in her food. He said, “Unfortunately, she didn’t take this seriously, and he also thought maybe it can’t be this serious until the incident happened.”

The filmmaker often shares throwback photos with wife Sridevi on Instagram. They have two kids – Janhvi and Khushi. While Janhvi is already a star, Khushi will make her Bollywood debut with Netflix’s The Archies this year.
