Boney Kapoor: My relationship with Salman Khan is strained now

Superstar Salman Khan has encouraged several star kids to join Bollywood. In fact, he has even mentored some of them like Hrithik Roshan and Arjun Kapoor. However, the superstar no longer shares a cordial relationship with Arjun. Boney Kapoor recently said that though his relationship with Salman is strained now, he is happy that he had encouraged his son to take up acting.

Arjun had made his acting debut with ‘Ishaqzaade’. So when asked about why he didn’t launch his son as an actor, Boney told IANS, “Arjun always wanted to become a film director and that is why I had no plan to launch him, like a new hero. That was not our plan at all. But one day, I got a call from Salman saying Arjun should try his hand in acting because he has all the elements to become one. So, Salman took Arjun under his wings and groomed him.”

The filmmaker further added, “Unfortunately, my relationship with Salman is strained now, but initially Salman encouraged Arjun to get into acting. I owe this to Salman.”

It is speculated that ever since reports of Arjun dating Salman’s ex-sister-in-law Malaika Arora made headlines, the bond between the two actors soured over the period of time.

Salman and Arjun make a conscious effort of not bumping into each other at any social event.
