Shahid Kapoor’s finest performance in the past has been in Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Kaminey’. The actor and director have once again come together in Vishal’s ‘Haider’, an adaptation of Shakespeare’s toughest play ‘Hamlet’. Shahid has four distinct looks in the film. The social media has been abuzz with speculation for several days now about Shahid going bald.
Since his “Chop chop day” tweet on January 29, there’s been intense speculation about how Shahid Kapoor is looking without his crowning glory. An all-enveloping beanie and the zealously protective unit of Vishal Bharadwaj’s Haider ensured that the much hyped ‘bald’ look was under cover for three days. Well Shahid will be turning totally bald a little later, for now, he had his favorite hair dresser Aalim Hakim fly down from Mumbai to give him a buzz cut.
According to sources, Shahid said, “This is by far the most challenging role I have played. Aalim took two hours to cut my hair. For 45 minutes, he tried different looks for me. I told him, ‘Just hurry up and take it off. Don’t make it long and painful for me.’ I have had the longest and the shortest hair in this film. But after he was done, I was surprised, but very happy as an actor for my new look. I secretly emailed the pictures to my dad to get his feedback and he said, ‘I feel very proud that you are doing this as an actor.’ The best was when he said, ‘Tu toh achcha lag raha hai.’”
Haider, produced by UTV Motion Pictures and Vishal Bhardwaj Pictures, releases on September 12.
