Mumbai Police have filed a The 447-page charge sheet that included statements of witnesses and forensic reports. There are 22 witnesses in the case, in an Andheri court against aspiring actor Sooraj Pancholi for abetting the Nishabd star Jiah Khan’s suicide. As Sooraj, who had been in a relationship with Jiah and was the last person she spoke to before her death. Jiah Khan was found hanging in her Juhu apartment in June last year. It included statements of witnesses and forensic reports. There are 22 witnesses in the case arrested under Section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the IPC, Sooraj was released on bail by the Bombay High Court.
According to sources, The High Court noted that though there was a misunderstanding between Jiah and Sooraj, it cannot be said that on June 3, he had acted in any manner which could reflect a man’s  intention that he wanted her to commit suicide. In the absence of any man’s reason , instigation or aid, it can not be said that [Sooraj] had driven her to commit suicide on that day.” It said it could not ignore the fact that “Jiah had a suicidal tendency” and had previously tried to commit suicide. There was evidence to establish Sooraj and Jiah were in serious relationship and the suicide happened after he refused to meet her on the day of the incident.”
Rabiya had suspected that Jiah had been killed, she had even filed a petition alleging her daughter had been murdered and demanded a CBI probe, but the police did not find any evidence to support her claim. Rabiya said that, “she had strong reasons to suspect that the probe was carried out by police in a manner to look as if it was a suicide.”
Sooraj and his father were in court when the charge-sheet was filed. The next hearing will be held on February 12.
