Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani starrer Shershaah released on Amazon Prime Video on August 12. The film has been getting an overwhelming response from all across the country. The film is based on Kargil hero, Captain Vikram Batra, who played a very crucial role during the Kargil War (1999). He was awarded the Param Vir Chakra, which is India’s highest war-time gallantry award. The film was a perfect tribute to his spirit, courage, valour and sacrifice he made for the country. Vishal Batra, Vikram Batra’s twin watched the movie with the entire family and it was a moment of pride for him and his family. He said in an interview that in these 22 years, he has contained his emotional havoc inside him and finally he let it out when the film was over.
Vishal told ETimes, “It has always been a mixed bag of emotions for me to talk about him. I have been living with those emotions for 22 years. It’s not easy being Vikram’s twin — he was the best brother, confidante, and friend. We shared every bit of our life together. It was a moment of pride for my family and me.”
“We wanted every Indian to know his story, to know the man behind the epithet, Shershaah. There hasn’t been a day when we have not spoken about him. And each time we do that, we tend to miss him even more. I’ve contained emotional havoc inside for years. I had to hold it till the film was over, and let it out somewhere, all alone,” he added.
Vishal also said that he and Sidharth had long conversations and he didn’t leave any aspect out. He also mentioned that about 10-12 percent cinematic liberty was taken in the narrative of the film, but the family is okay with it.
