The demands by CBFC to edit out portions in movies are increasing with each passing day causing the filmmakers some real stress. Now, renowned news anchor and journalist, Anrab Goswami’s reference has been completely edited out from Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar-starrer ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’. Such an incident had occurred in the past too, when Sonakshi Sinha wasn’t allowed to use Barkha Dutt’s name even though she played a fan. But this time, the reason for deleting the famous news anchor’s name is quite strange.
A source from the film’s team said to a leading web portal, “It was just a random reference to ‘Arnab’, not even his full name. But we were asked to remove it. The explanation given was, we can’t use names of real-life people without their consent. But didn’t Barkha Dutta say she had no objection to her name being used in ‘Noor’? They still cut her mention out.” (Also Read: B-Townies promote Akshay’s ‘TEPK’ in the quirkiest way. Have a look)
Now, the fact is that Akshay Kumar and Arnab Goswami are friends and one day, Anrab had even invited Akshay to his news studio to discuss on the Varnika stalking case and empowerment of women. While having an interaction, Arnab actually allowed Akshay to talk, as he listened on to him (which is a rarity). So when he was quizzed about CBFC’s decision to do away with his reference in the movie, he said, “I don’t understand why the CBFC should have any objection to my name being used in a film. Even if it was used negatively, which you tell me it has not, it’s up to me to object or not object. I think Mr Pahlaj Nihalani has no business deciding on my behalf.”
‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ is helmed by Shree Narayan Singh and it hits the screens today.
