Check Out: First look of Amrita Rao as MeenaTai Thackeray

Actress Amrita Rao who gained fame opposite Shahid Kapoor in the romantic comedy ‘Ishq Vishk’ and stole our hearts with the cult song ‘Chale Jaise Hawayein’ from ‘Main Hoon Na’, has been missing from the big screen since long now. Amrita was last seen in the TV show, ‘Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai’ and her last big screen appearance was a supporting role in ‘Satyagraha’.

Here is some good news for her fans, the stunning beauty is all set to make her comeback in films with the forthcoming biopic ‘Thackeray’ as Meenatai Thackeray, wife of Shiv Sena’s founder Balasaheb Thackeray.

Talking about the role, Amrita Rao says, “When producer Sanjay Raut and director Abhijit Panse approached me for the film, they told me that their search for Meenatai Thackeray began and ended with me, because of the public perception that I’ve created with my work. I felt proud of that because, I have always chosen to have an identity of my own and have never given into the rat race. Today, I feel that I have earned the role of Meenatai Thackeray in the biopic.”

Thackeray is based on the life of Balasaheb Thackeray and has Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the titular role and is slated to release on 25th January 2019.
