Chup Teaser: Dulquer Salmaan makes ‘Kaagaz Ke Phool’ as he pays tribute to Guru Dutt on his birth anniversary

R Balki’s psychological thriller Chup: Revenge Of The Artist was announced last year. The film stars Sunny Deol, Dulquer Salmaan, Pooja Bhatt and Shreya Dhanwanthary. The teaser of Chup has been dropped today (July 9) that also happens to be renowned actor-filmmaker Guru Dutt’s birth anniversary. Amitabh Bachchan unveiled the teaser on social media. For the unversed, Chup is R Balki’s “ode” to Guru Dutt, who died at the age of 39 on October 10, 1964.

In the teaser, Dulquer is seen making paper flowers from newspapers and making a bouquet. He is heard singing Happy Birthday in the tune of ,Waqt Ne Kiya Kya Haseen Sitam, from Guru Dutt’s Kaagaz Ke Phool. He then gifts Shreya the bouquet. She then says, Kaagaz Ke Phool. The teaser ends with Dulquer saying, “Chup”.

“To the one who lived life in full bloom. Remembering #GuruDutt Ji on his birth anniversary. #ChupRevengeOfTheArtist,” wrote the makers as they dropped Chup teaser. The motion poster of the film was announced on the legendary filmmaker Guru Dutt’s death anniversary.

While talking about the film, the Padman director said, “Chup is an ode to the sensitive artiste, and Guru Dutt is right on top of that list. I have had the story for a long time and I am glad we finally wrote it and are almost done filming it.”

Chup is being co-produced by Hope Productions and Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. Balki has written the screenplay and dialogues of the film along with Raja Sen and Rishi Virmani.
