CINTAA (Cine and TV Artists Association) have extended their support for Tanushree Dutta after the sexual harassment charges she has made against Nana Patekar.
“After going through Ms Tanushree Dutta’s complaint, which was filed with the then Executive Committee of CINTAA in March 2008, we feel that the decision was taken in the Joint Dispute Settlement Committee of CINTAA & IFTPC (then known as AMPTPP) in July 2008 was not appropriate, as the chief grievance of sexual harassment wasn’t even addressed,” read a statement issued by the association.
In the statement, CINTAA also appealed to its other members to come immediately forward and speak up in case they have faced similar harassment. They added that they were duty bound to support them in their fight.
After Tanushree’s accusation, Nana Patekar has denied the charges and said that he will answer all questions in a press conference that he will give after coming back to Mumbai. The actor is currently in Jaisalmer, shooting for his film ‘Housefull 4’.
A lot of actors and other B-town personalities have come forward and supported Tanushree Dutta. The likes of Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Varun Dhawan and Sonam Kapoor among others have applauded Tanushree’s courage and asked everyone to not doubt her.
It remains to be seen how this dark chapter in the history of Bollywood unfolds.
