This year, everyone was gearing up for the biggest battle of the Khans at the box-office as Shah Rukh Khan‘s ‘Raees’ was set to clash with Salman Khan‘s ‘Sultan’ on the day of Eid. When two big-budget films release on the same day, the box-office reports put up for a good show for the movie fanatics as one film’s success hampers the other’s, but thankfully, the clash between Shah Rukh and Salman’s film has been averted as the King Khan, SRK, has decided to postpone the release of his ‘Raees’.
According to the reports, the makers of ‘Raees’ have decided to push the release date of the film by approximately two weeks and now the film is set to release in the month of August. A source quoted to Pinkvilla, “Shah Rukh’s Raees is not clashing with Salman’s Sultan after all. In fact after what the clash of Shah Rukh’s Dilwale with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani did to the former, Shah Rukh was opposed to the Eid clash. It was producer Ritesh Sidhwani who insisted they won’t budge.”
SRK told this to PTI, “I think logic will be to shift (release dates of both ‘Raees’ and ‘Sultan’). We will try and figure out a way so that it doesn’t eat into each other’s business. It is awkward… it’s like what are we doing. I don’t think we like to have it (box office clash).”
Though the change in the release date of ‘Raees’ has saved the clash of two Khans, it has paved the way to another clash. Akshay Kumar’s ‘Rustom’ is set to release in the month of August and so is Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Mohenjo Daro.’
So do we have three films locking horns at the box-office in the month of August? You never know! But we are sure that the month of August is going to be one eventful month to be remembered.
