Versatile music composer Shantanu Moitra, who has composed in films like Parineeta, Lage Raho Munnabhai, PK, Gulabo Sitabo lost his father, his mentor. Shantanu posted this piece of sad news on his Facebook timeline with a throwback picture of him and his father. He wrote, “Chaar kadam bus chaar kadam chal do na Saath mere…..my best friend, my mentor ,my Babai left us . He went smilingly and with dignity . I will keep wishing I could walk Chaar Kadam more with him…Will miss you Babai.”
Just a couple of days back the composer shared an update of his parent’s health on Twitter. He posted a childhood picture of him and his mom and captioned it with, “Wanted to post this on Mother’s Day. My parents are recovering from COVID and my mothers favourite pastime is to look at old photographs. Happy Memories heal her. Sharing with you one pic with my very pretty mother and a very junior me…old pics r mood lifters #covidhealers.”
Moitra gained recognition with his music in Parineeta. His music was critically acclaimed and he received a nomination for the Filmfare Best Music Director Award. That same year he won the Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent. In 2009, he composed the score for his first Bengali film, Antaheen. He was also a judge for two seasons of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Bengal, a regional spinoff of the show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.
During the lockdown phase, the musician started live interaction on his official Facebook page with “his friends from in and outside the industry” such as Shreya Ghoshal, Vidya Balan, Shoojit Sircar, Harsha Bhogle, Biswadeep Chatterjee, Anirudha Roy Chowdhury.
