The trailer of Anupam Kher starrer political drama ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ that is based on former PMO advisor Sanjay Barua’s controversial book by the same name, has sparked a row over alleged distortion of facts. The film chronicles the life of politician-economist Manmohan Singh who served as India’s PM from 2004-2014. Post the release of the trailer, the Congress party has now raised objections to this Anupam Kher starrer.

The Maharashtra Youth Congress on Thursday demanded a prior screening of the movie and also added that if some scenes were found to be factually incorrect it will have to be deleted otherwise they would not let the movie be screened anywhere in the country.

Amrish Pandey the president of the Youth Congress told ANI, “Our Maharashtra unit has asked the filmmakers to hold a special screening for the party before the movie is released. If they do not hold the screening, we will move court.”

Directed by Vijay Gutte, ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ also features Akshaye Khanna as Baru, German actor Suzanne Bernert as Sonia Gandhi, Arjun Mathur as Rahul Gandhi and Aahana Kumra as Priyanka Gandhi. The film will be releasing on January 11.
