Dabboo Ratnani says Kiara Advani did not pose topless for the calendar, wanted to avoid vulgarity

Kiara Advani ruffled some feathers with her picture for photographer Dabboo Ratnani’s 2021 calendar, which seemed to show her posing topless on a beach. Kiara had attracted similar notice the year before when she seemed to pose topless beneath a big leaf for Dabboo’s 2020 calendar. Kiara’s leaf picture did not go unnoticed. It ran into controversy as it was alleged that Ratnani had plagiarised international photographer Marie Bärsch photoshoot. 

However, in a recent interview, the photographer stated that he photographed Kiara deliberately like this and avoided crossing the line into vulgarity. Dabboo Ratnani also emphasised that Kiara is not topless in the new shot. He told an E-Times, “Yes, I have read what’s being said online. But Kiara has not gone topless in my black-and-white picture that has emerged of late.” He added, “I tend to shoot in a particular way that leaves a lot to the imagination. I think too-much-sexy in your face gets vulgar. It is better to leave a certain intrigue.”

Kiara appears in Daboo’s calendars for the third time. Kiara Advani is seen in a black-and-white photograph sitting on a sand beach. While Alia Bhatt replied with a ‘Wowza,’ Dabboo praised her as an ‘amazing beauty.’

Ratnani informs ETimes that the photo was taken at the JW Marriott Hotel in Mumbai. He added, “Yes, I have read what’s being stated online. Kiara hasn’t gone topless in my recent black-and-white photograph.” The image appears to have been shot skillfully. “I prefer to photograph in a way that leaves a lot to the imagination. Too much sexuality in your face, in my opinion, becomes vulgar. It is preferable to leave a specific intrigue”

Kiara was most recently seen in Shershaah, the most-watched Indian film on Amazon Prime Video. Sidharth Malhotra played Captain Vikram Batra in the military film, which was based on his life.
