Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Padmavati’ has faced quite a few problems ever since the film has gone on floors. Last we heard Rajput Karni Sena vandalised the sets, accusing Bhansali of distorting historical facts while the film was shooting in Jaipur. The maverick filmmaker himself faced physical assault as well during this situation.
Recently, the trailer of this film was released, receiving an overwhelming response. But, still the negativity around the film is still relevant. An artiste named Karan K had created a massive and a beautiful rangoli imitating Deepika Padukone’s look in the period drama. But unfortunately, his work was destroyed by a group of people. The incident took place on Monday and today actress Deepika Padukone has condemned this act through posting a series of tweets.
The actress took to Twitter and wrote, “Absolutely heart breaking to see the recent attack on artist Karan and his artwork! disgusting and appalling to say the least! Who are these people? Who is responsible for their actions? For how long are we going to let this go on? Allow them to take law into their own hands & attack our freedom & right to individual expression time & again!?” [sic]
Further, the actress tagged Information and Broadcasting minister Smriti Irani in her last post and shared saying, “this has to stop NOW & action must be taken!@smritiirani.” [sic]
Even though the actress has condemned this act now, much to our surprise she remained mum when director Bhansali was assaulted on the sets of the film.
