Deepika Padukone & Ananya Panday’s chemistry prove why actresses shouldn’t be reduced to mere catfights

There was an era when no one could digest the fact that two women, particularly actresses working in the entertainment industry, are best of friends. Back in the 90s, when actresses featured in one particular movie, they were often pitted against each other. History is witness of how there were often reports revolving their rivalry, or the catfights on sets. And, even today, women are often pitted against each other in a sexist, shameful way. However, in current times, there are most of the actresses who continue to remain friends and show solidarity with one another. Deepika Padukone and Ananya Panday are currently that actress-duo that’s winning the hearts of many with their sweet bond. Even though detractors had something to say about Deepika and Ananya when they were announced as leads of Gehraiyaan, they are currently proving everyone otherwise.

Be it the shooting days of Gehraiyaan or the ongoing promotions, Deepika Padukone and Ananya Panday seem to share a sisterly bond with each other. While Deepika has always addressed Ananya as her “younger sister“, Panday has talked about everything she has learnt from DP. Talking about the sweet chemistry they share, there is never a dull moment between the actresses. It was only recently that Padukone teased Ananya. During the promotions of the film, Deepika went on to call Panday ‘Prime Minister’. Speaking with Hindustan Times, when Deepika was asked to name the person who used their phone in between shots, Padukone pointed the finger at Ananya. Panday then went on and defended herself and said, “I also work on my phone,” reacting to this, Deepika jokingly said, “PM hai, duniya chalati hai (She is the PM, she runs the world).”

Later, Ananya picked Deepika when she was asked to pick someone to have a deep conversation about vulnerability and emotional lows. Explaining further why Ananya chose her, Padukone said, “We don’t feel bad here, we are just very honest with each other.”

Talking about Panday, Deepika had also called her a baby sister. She even said that Ananya is ‘wise and talented’. Padukone had said, “Ananya for me is like.. and the world knows this… is like a baby sister, she is younger than my sister but so wise and talented.”

Ananya, on the other hand, had shared that while working with Deepika, she learned a lot about acting. On working with Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Dhairya Karwa, the actress said, “If I’ve learned anything, it’s that acting is a lot of reacting. So, on the contrary, it’s always a blessing to have stronger performances opposite you to feed. The whole team was working in synergy, and we were like a family where no one made me feel like I was new in any way.”

Deepika and Ananya continue to prove many with their sweet chemistry and bond they’ve formed, that actresses shouldn’t be reduced to mere catfights. And they are all set to win the hearts of one and all with their performances in the upcoming film Gehraiyaan.

Gehraiyaan, directed by Shakun Batra is all set to release on February 4.
