Deepika Padukone as Leela is graceful but spicy

Sanjay Leela Bhansali has projected his Leela in a most beautiful manner with a minimalistic make-up and an undone light bouffant ensured that the actress looked ethereal. Deepika is depicted in a never before avatar. Her dress materials too were sourced from the interiors of Gujarat.

According to Deepika, she had tattoos painted on her face and neck. Even her jewellery was sourced from local market, “Apart from the fact that he is one of the most celebrated directors, Sanjay sir has always been known for the way he presents his heroines. So, other than getting to work with him, I was excited about my look in the film. His attention to detail, combined with Anju’s creative brilliance, helped Leela come alive.”

Bhansali said that, “Leela is like his mother beautiful graceful but a little teekhi , who lives life to the fullest and is not a recluse. She lives life to the fullest and on her own terms. She is colour, she is what she is. I wanted Deepika to be that.”
