Deepika Padukone is gearing up for the release of ‘Chhapaak’ (a film based on the real-life story of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal). Deepika has been giving us glimpses of her journey from the shoots. Recently, the actress shocked us as she opens up on burning down the prosthetics of her character for a very important reason.
B-town actors work hard getting right the aesthetics of the particular character that they portray on silver screens. From getting those perfect looks to stepping into the skin of the characters emotionally, Bollywood actors do it all and how! At The Print’s Off The Cuff, DP was quizzed on one such role from her films that impacted her the most. To this, the actress replied quicking saying ‘Chhapaak’, her upcoming film. She further revealed that she had to burn the piece of prosthetics that she was wearing on the last day of her shoots.
The reason behind her burning the prosthetics was that it impacted Deepika Padukone more emotionally. She says that she had never experienced it before. And she justifies it saying that it was her way of, at least, letting go of everything that she experienced during the course of the shoot of the film.
Deepika Padukone said, “I literally burnt it. Prosthetics are expensive, we get charged per piece of prosthetics that the artist makes. But I took a call as a producer, I said I don’t care, I need to heal emotionally.”

She went on adding, “It takes about 2-3 days to prepare one piece. On the last day of the shoot, I gave my makeup artist a heads up that I need an extra piece. She made one and the day we finished, I remember taking the piece, taking some alcohol, went into a corner, poured the alcohol on it and set it on fire. I stood there watching it burn until it had disappeared completely in front of me.”
“I don’t think it left my system entirely but that vision of the piece burning is stuck in my head. It affected me in a way that no other movie has before,” Deepika Padukone concluded saying.
Knowing so much has gone into the making to the film, we are looking forward to watching this Deepika Padukone starrer with bated breath. What about you folks? Share your thoughts with us.
