Deepika Padukone made her debut on TikTok in January this year to promote her movie ‘Chhapaak’. Since joining, she has shared videos where she is seen taking challenges that are very much popular on the video platform.
As she had made the debut specially to promote her movie, Deepika had met many TikTok stars. For one of her promotional videos, she was seen discussing her top three favourite looks with a TikTok user. In the video, Deepika was telling the user that she will be challenging her with three of her most favourite looks. The user recreates Deepika’s ‘Om Shanti Om’, ‘Piku’ and ‘Chaapaak’ looks. In ‘Chaapaak’, Deepika played acid-attack survivor Malti.
The video was shared by @SmokingSkills with the caption, “And just when we thought that @deepikapadukone couldn’t mock Lakshmi anymore through her PR stunts in JNU she comes up with tick tok challenge on acid attack victims. Gross.”

A section of netizens fell that Deepika made fun of acid attack survivors and they slammed her on Twitter. Some called it “Highly insensitive”, while one user wrote, “Disgusting”.
Have a look at some of the trolls.
Shameful, Insensitive!!
Like Chhapakk is not just a sound.. them Scars are not just make up..Seems like Deepika understands only the profitability & PR of the subject and not the pain, anguish, complexes and gravitas of the matter!

Just when we thought @deepikapadukone couldn’t do any worse she has totally gone underground with her rather sorry PR campaign on Tik Tok. Shame on her.

Sickening levels of commercialism this. Totally unacceptable.
I’ve let go of whatever benefit of doubt @deepikapadukone might have had for being misled to be at JNU. She is gross.— Indira Deepak (@Indira19240204) 18 January 2020
Very insensitive from Deepika. Not expected this from her.

This is a real face and mind of them. Because they love acid attack victim face only which make them earn. These people can not even feel her pain.

On one side she appreciates ban on selling acid in states to stop acid attack on women and on the other side, she challenges everyone to make up like acid victim Laxmi agarwal to promote her movie.
Purely Double standards.#hypocrisykiseema

This year started with a bad note for Deepika as she faced backlash for her visit to JNU, Delhi recently. Many called it a publicity stunt for the promotion of her movie.
