‘Chhapaak’ trailer: This Deepika Padukone starrer is a story of trauma and triumph of an acid attack survivor

Filmmaker Meghna Gulzar has always believed in going against the flow and bringing out stories that actually are meant to tell. Box-office numbers have never lured her and perhaps that’s one of the reasons why her sincerity towards telling a gripping story is evident in each one of her projects.

After a long wait, the trailer of Meghna’s next film ‘Chhapaak’ is finally out. Deepika Padukone is playing the lead role in this film which is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. The film showcases the trauma and triumph of an acid attack survivor.

Deepika Padukone is the epitome of beauty in Bollywood. So watching her transform into an acid attack survivor is disturbing. Hats off to the makeup department, for the prosthetics used on Deepika. However, the trailer lacked the emotional connect I was expecting from it.

In the film, Vikrant Massey plays Amol, who is Malti’s partner. Even he stands out in the trailer and now I hope the film lives up to everyone’s expectations. Produced by Fox Star Studios and Deepika Padukone, ‘Chhapaak’ will hit the marquee on January 10.
