A few days back, Deepika Padukone had announced that she will be discussing the importance of mental health with the World Health Organisation’s Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. The actress has now informed that their discussion has been put on hold due to unforeseen and ‘highly unavoidable circumstances’.
Deepika’s interactive session with WHO Chief was scheduled to take place today. However last night she shared a message on her Instagram stories that read, “Hello everyone, I hope all of you are safe and staying indoors! I regret to inform you that due to unforeseen and highly unavoidable circumstances, the conversation ‘Prioritizing mental health during the pandemic and beyond’ between Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General, WHO and I, scheduled for 23rd April 2020 has been put on hold until further notice.
The actress signed off by saying, “Having said that, mental health is a very real and valid aspect of this pandemic; one that I hope we prioritize and nurture through these unusual times and beyond. Much love, Deepika.”

Speculations are rife that she decided to cancel the session as her decision had made her fans and netizens furious. She even received a lot of flak on social media for the same.
Deepika has always been active when it comes to advocating the importance of mental health and well-being. She even started Live, Love, Laugh Foundation, which aims in creating awareness and working towards reducing the stigma surrounding mental health issues.
