Bollywood’s leggy beauty Deepika Padukone had a great year last year. First, she starred in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Padmaavat’ which went on to become one of the biggest blockbusters of the year and later she walked down the aisle as she married her longtime beau, Ranveer Singh.
Last year post the release of ‘Padmaavat’, the leggy beauty took a sabbatical as she refrained from signing on any project. Perhaps Deepika wanted to concentrate all her energy on her wedding plans. It was only by the end of 2018, that Deepika announced her next project ‘Chhapaak’ which is being helmed by Meghna Gulzar. The film is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. The film is a story of trauma, triumph and the unquashable human spirit.
Deepika confirmed about the project by sharing the following post on her social media handles

Yesterday, Deepika attended the Facebook live session where she opened up about the kind of film she wanted to do post marriage. Yes, the actress said that she wanted to do a love story. However, Meghna Gulzar came to her with ‘Chhapaak’ and the film’s story moved her so much that she immediately agreed to be a part of it.
In ‘Chhapaak’ Deepika will be paired opposite ‘A Death in the Gunj’ fame actor Vikrant Massey. With this film, Deepika will be making her debut as a producer.
Well, we are glad that Deepika selected ‘Chhapaak’ as her first film post marriage as we are pretty sure that she along with Meghna will help to translate the inspiring life of Laxmi on the celluloid.
