Deepika Padukone is the highest paid actress in Bollywood right now!

The association of Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Leela Bhansali has always resulted into something extravagant. After ‘Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’, ‘Rani Padmavati’ marks the duo’s hat-trick project together. With this film, Deepika also becomes the highest paid actress of Bollywood!

For ‘Ram Leela’, the actress was paid Rs. 1 crore. Two years later came ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and the makers paid her Rs. 7 crore for the film. This time, for ‘Rani Padmavati’, Deepika is being paid an eye-popping number of Rs 12.65 crore, reports a leading daily.

She is the first one among Bollywood actresses to break the 10 crore boundary.

‘Rani Padmavati’ revolves around the historical saga of Allauddin Khilji,  the second ruler of the Khilji dynasty, who fell in love with Padmavati, the queen of Mewar. Padmavati’s beauty was the talk of the entire empire and Khilji wanted to see her just once. Even though Hindu women were forbidden from showing their faces to strangers, Padmavati was convinced by her husband Maharaja Ratan Singh to show her unparalleled beauty to Khilji once. Awestruck by Padmavati’s unmatched charm, Khilji planned to invade the kingdom and abduct her. Padmavati decided to commit ‘jauhar’ and jumped into the flames and killed herself, while all the other Rajput women followed her.

The character of Allauddin Khilji will be donned by Ranveer Singh. The makers are still looking for an actor to play Padmavati’s husband in the film.
