The first look of Deepika Padukone from Project K is winning over the internet. Touted to be mounted on a mammoth scale, Project K, will be the first-ever Indian film to debut at the San Diego Comic-Con. For the grand launch, Prabhas, Rana Daggubati and Kamal Haasan arrived in the US on July 19.
However, films leading lady Deepika was missing. If reports are to be believed, she will be missing the grand launch. Here’s why!

Reportedly, in the wake of the ongoing strike by the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Radio and Television Artists (SAG-AFTRA) in the US, the actress will miss the event.
An insider was quoted telling PTI, “With the SAG-AFTRA strike underway, the union has specified that actors cannot provide promotional or publicity services. That extends to appearances at conventions, such as the San Diego Comic-Con. Accordingly, as a member of SAG-AFTRA and in line with their membership regulations, Deepika Padukone will not be attending”.

What is the SAG-AFTRA strike?
The Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists is an American labor union representing approximately 160,000 film and television actors, journalists, radio personalities. On July 14, the Screen Actors Guild announced a strike due to the inability to come to a new labour agreement with the Hollywood’s biggest studio. The Guild is asking for better pay for the actors and protection from being replaced by Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Project K release date
Directed by Nag Ashwin, Project K stars Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani in pivotal roles. The flick is slated to release on 12 January 2024 and is reportedly titled Kaal Chakra.

Apart from Project K, Deepika has interesting projects in the pipeline. She will reportedly make a cameo appearance in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan. She is also gearing up for Siddharth Anand directorial Fighter which also stars Hrithik Roshan and Anil Kapoor. In addition, she will feature with Amitabh Bachchan in official Hindi adaptation of The Intern. During the promotions of Cirkus, it was also revealed that she will be a part of Rohit Shetty’s Singham 3.
