The last year belonged to Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Vicky Kaushal, Ranbir Kapoor, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao as far as their excellence in cinema is considered. With films like ‘Padmaavat’, ‘Raazi’ and ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’, Deepika, Alia and Vicky Kaushal not only proved their mettle as phenomenal actors but also made the nation proud by narrating some great, heroic stories on the big screen.

On Wednesday, Deepika and Vicky were among the few Bollywood actors who got awarded with coveted titles at the annual Lokmat Maharashtrian Of The Year awards. Deepika won the Iconic Performer Award for her role as Rani Padmini in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmaavat’. She received the award by Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. She wore a trendy white saree with a hair pulled back in loose bun.

On the other hand, Vicky bagged the title of being the ‘Path-breaking Performer Of The Year’. President Of Maharashtra Youth Congress Satyajeet Tambe won the ultimate Maharashtrian Of The Year Award.

Others who attended the awards ceremony included Rohit Shetty, Riteish Deshmukh, Zareen Khan among many other famous personalities from the world of politics.

On the work front, Deepika Padukone is getting prepped up to shoot ‘Chhapaak’. ‘Chhapaak’ is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal of Delhi and Deepika will be playing the lead role. The film will also star Vikrant Massey opposite her. According to several reports, it is being said that on hearing the story of Laxmi, Deepika was so moved that she decided to produce it as well.
