Deepika Padukone’s maternal grandfather passes away

Deepika Padukone, who is was busy shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’ got some bad news recently as she lost her maternal grandfather.

Her grandfather, who was very close to her, took his last breath on January 30. Deepika decided to not talk about it anywhere.

This is probably the reason why Deepika was also away from the whole incident when Sanjay Leela Bhansali was assaulted in Jaipur. Although she tweeted about it saying, “In a state of shock!deeply saddened and disheartened by yesterday’s events!#Padmavati. As Padmavati I can assure you that there is absolutely no distortion of history.#Padmavati. Our only endeavour is & has always been to share with the world the story of this courageous & powerful woman in the purest form there is.” [sic] However, she has been missing from action for some time and perhaps this is the reason.

May Deepika’s grandfather’s soul rest in peace.
