Commenting on the controversy their film was embroiled in, at the event Deepika said, “For me, it was beyond the film. It wasn’t even about these people. But it was about the fact that, in my mind, we are dealing with a much larger issue at hand, which is why is the film industry targetted every single time for anything that goes on in this country. This film was a career-defining film for me in so many ways. The fact that people can openly threaten and think that they can get away with it and they almost did and that’s what I was standing up for at the cost of my film.”

Whereas, Ranveer Singh said that he was extremely infuriated when those goons threatened to cut-off Deepika’s nose. However, the actor kept his cool by not responding to their threats as he didn’t want to give them any attention. He also said that his team, parents and seniors asked him to stay calm.

We think Ranveer did the right thing and also we agree with Deepika as these days filmmakers and films have become a soft target for these so-called guardians of morality in our society.
