The #MeToo movement shook the entire Bollywood industry after several big names were called out. The likes of Sajid Khan, Rajat Kapoor, Alok Nath and Subhash Ghai were accused of sexual misconduct. It all started after Tanushree Dutta accused Nana Patekar of harassing her on the sets of ‘Horn Ok Pleassss’. Rajkumar Hirani too was accused by a woman who had worked with him on the sets of ‘Sanju’.
Rajkumar denied the allegations and put out a statement that read, “I was completely shocked when these allegations were brought to my notice about two months back. I had suggested immediately that it is essential to take this matter to any committee or legal body. The complainant has chosen to go to the media instead. I want to very strongly state that this is a false malicious and mischievous story being spread with the sole intention of destroying my reputation.”
Now, it is being reported that he will be a part of FICCI Frames. It is to be noted that several actors and directors had to quit their projects midway, because of #MeToo allegations. Thankfully for him, Hirani was not shooting for any film at that moment.
Clarifying their stance on selecting him despite the allegations, the group told Mid-Day, “Hirani has a clean image, and when the allegations came to light, many members of the film fraternity came out in support of him. The members of FICCI decided that until he is proven guilty, there is no harm in having him or his production house on board.”
