Dia Mirza welcomes first child with husband Vaibhav Rekhi; REVEALS the name of her newborn son

Actress Dia Mirza welcomed her first child, a son, with husband Vaibhav Rekhi on May 14. The actress took to her Instagram handle to share the good news with the world. The couple has named their cute little son, Avyaan Azaad Rekhi. Much to the delight of her fans, Dia also shared a first glimpse of her son. The couple chose to share the good news now as their baby had arrived early and was under observation in Neonatal ICU.

Dia welcomed her son via C-section on May 14. As her son was born premature he was taken care by the doctor and nurses in Neonatal ICU. The actress also revealed that she suffered appendectomy during her pregnancy and very severe bacterial infection. But thanks to doctors she was able to deliver her baby safely via emergency C-section.

Sharing the good news and the experience of embracing motherhood, Dia wrote, “To paraphrase Elizabeth Stone, “To have a child is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.” These words perfectly exemplify Vaibhav & my feelings right now. Our heartbeat, our son Avyaan Azaad Rekhi was born on May 14th. Having arrived early, our little miracle has since then been cared for by tireless nurses and doctors in the Neonatal ICU. A sudden appendectomy during my pregnancy and a subsequent and very severe bacterial infection could have led to sepsis and proven to be life threatening. Thankfully, the timely care and intervention by our doctor ensured the safe birth of our baby via an emergency C-section.”

In case you are wondering what does Avyaan means? Well the name is of Indian (Sanskrit) origin and means “Name of Hindu Lord Ganesh… which means perfection.” One of the many names of Lord Ganesha, Avyaan means eloquent and the one who has no imperfections. Dia’s newborn son is still in the hospital and the actress revealed that he will be home soon to meet his elder sister Samaira and grand parents. Samaira is Vaibhav’s daughter from his previous marriage.

Thanking her well-wishers and sending hope and prayers to everyone who is struggling to hold on to hope right now, Dia further wrote, “As we watch this tiny being, this Zen master in awe and wonder, we learn from him, in all humility, the true meaning of trusting the universe and of parenthood. And to not be afraid, and so we humbly take the lead from his resilience and courage. We do not have enough words to thank all those who continue to help us live this story of hope and faith and create a safe, healing, nurturing space for Avyaan and I. He will be home soon and his elder sister Samaira and grand parents are waiting to hold him in their arms. To our well-wishers and fans, I just want to say – your concern has always meant a lot to me and if it was possible to share this news before, we would have. Thank you all for all the love, light, faith and prayers. We extend them back to everyone who is struggling to hold on to hope right now or is praying for a loved one. Dia and Vaibhav had tied the knot in an intimate ceremony on February 15 this year. In April, the actress had announce her pregnancy. We congratulate the couple upon the arrival of their cute little son.
