R Madhavan and Dia Mirza starrer Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein released in 2001. Years after its release, the film is immensely loved even today. However, the indication of Madhavan’s character stalking Dia Mirza’s character in RHTDM was not appreciated and was not received well by a few netizens. However, the film is high in romance and has gained millions of fans for its love story, mesmerizing songs, and dazzling chemistry between Maddy and Reena.
Now, in an interview, RHTDM actress Dia Mirza has stated that while the netizens root for Maddy’s character, she has not been comfortable with the stalking in the film.
Dia Mirza was uncomfortable with Maddy’s character stalking her
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Dia Mirza opened up about the same and said, “I was uncomfortable when Maddy’s character was stalking me. Although Reena (Dia’s character) acknowledges it. She gives it off to him. She has that moment when she tells him off. What works that people get past that notion, that it’s okay, is the fact that Maddy’s character, at the end of the value, has very strong values, is respectful, is kind, is well-intentioned, most importantly.”
Not just this, she also shared whether Reena chose the right guy for her in the end. She said, “Arey ab kya bole. Main ye bhi sochti thi ki Saif itna achha aadmi hai, wo usko chhod ke kyu chali jayegi. And wo Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam mein dikhaya tha. So it’s very interesting ki ek aisi film aati hai jo aapko ye point of view dikhati hai, ek aisi aati hai jo aapko wo point of view dikhati hai (What to say now. I used to wonder why she would leave such a nice guy like Saif. It was shown in Hum Dil Se Chuke Sanam. So, it is interesting that a film shows one point of view and another film shows a different point of view.)
For the uninitiated, the oh-so-famous film Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein is directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon. It is a remake of the Tamil film Minnale.
Dia recalls facing rejections
Netizens have witnessed Dia Mirza do fewer films despite loving her in RHTDM. However, in a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Dia recalled facing rejections. She shared, “There are lots of wonderful directors who I’d give my heart for and I would love to work with. They haven’t cast me because they think I look too good. But it’s okay, it’s fine. But I have to say this there’s been an update in life since. Those same directors now want to work with me.”
Well, the actress is back as she recently starred in Dhak Dhak. She performed alongside Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ratna Pathak Shah, and Sanjana Sanghi.
