Actor Alia Bhatt cast a spell when she walked the red carpet of the Met Gala 2024 wearing a six-yard hand embroidery saree from Sabyasachi. She looked mesmerising in Sabyasachi’s creation and fans hailed her look. First, for picking a stunning mint green saree and second for representing India by wearing traditional wear on the red carpet. Apart from this, Alia Bhatt is now making headlines for reportedly paying Rs 63 lakhs to walk the red carpet of the prestigious fashion event. But is it true?
Here’s a fact check on Alia Bhatt paying Rs 63 lakhs at Met Gala
For the uninitiated, the Met Gala is a charity event. The purpose of this event is to raise money; hence, the institute and the committee give out tickets individually or for a whole table. However, not everyone can buy a ticket as they need an invitation from Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue and a board member at the Met Gala. Among many celebs, Alia was also invited to attend the event and she will also have to buy an individual ticket once she accepts the invitation.

According to a report in Koimoi, when it comes to buying a ticket, then each ticket costs approximately USD 75,000 per person. In Indian currency, it comes to around Rs. 63 lakh. The entire table costs around USD 350,000, or about Rs. 2 crore 92 lakh. Moreover, companies or design firms often buy tables whereas individuals have to fund their own tickets. So it looks like the Gangubai Kathiawadi actor has most likely bought a ticket and paid Rs 63 lakhs for the Met Gala.
Meanwhile, last year, Alia picked a pearl dress from the collections of Prabal Gurung and it was a hit among the masses.
