Did Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Dutt biopic actually fetch a record price?

Today morning, trade and media were abuzz as there were reports that suggested Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Sanjay Dutt biopic is fetching a record price. Yesterday, a leading trade analyst had shared that the movie has got Fox Star Studios on board. But, today as per the reports of DNA, the film was fetched for a whopping INR 180 crore by the studio. A source had informed the same to DNA, adding, “Furthermore, the film’s profits will be shared 85-15. While Hirani will keep 85 per cent of the profits, the studio will get a mere 15 per cent.” [sic]

However, now a report published by Pinkvilla rubbishes this news according to a source information they have. Their report says that the figures which have made their way to the web are absolutely untrue. The studio (Fox Star Studios) has not just come on board for one film and instead has done a three film deal with the makers. However, the exact price for each of the movies isn’t disclosed yet. Well, now after having a look at both these reports, it raises a question as to what is the exact deal in which Fox Star Studios has joined hands with Rajkumar Hirani and producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Perhaps, the makers or the studio are the best ones to answer this question.

Talking about the film, apart from Ranbir Kapoor playing the titular role, it also features Paresh Rawal as late Sunil Dutt and Dia Mirza as Dutt’s wife Maanayata. Manisha Koirala will be essaying the role of Sanjay Dutt’s mother, late actress Nargis.

The film is slated to release on March 30, 2018.
