Actors’ fees have always been the topic of discussion. Fans are intrigued to know how much a star charges per film. While superstars have a profit-sharing rule with the producers, there are others who simply charge for their work. Speaking on the same, there were reports suggesting that actor Shah Rukh Khan has charged less for Pathaan than half of Akshay Kumar got for Cuttputlli. Well, producer and actor Jackky Bhagnani clears the air by saying that it is like comparing apples with oranges.
Jackky Bhagnani on SRK and Akshay Kumar’s fees:
Reportedly, Shah Rukh Khan charged a fee of around Rs 35-40 crore, along with a profit-sharing deal whereas Akshay Kumar charged Rs 120 crore, which was 80% of the film’s budget. Reacting to the claims, Bhagnani was quoted saying by HT, “Whoever calculates and reports actors’ fee this way is doing a misinformed calculation to begin with. Every top actor in the industry now has a stake in the films’ profit,” adding that actors have made deals of profit-sharing in the industry.
Jackky further said, “Their overall fee is a function of that stake and how much the film earns on the box office. This is the way it works, whether for SRK or Akshay Kumar or Salman Khan or most leading stars. To compare one actor’s base fee with another actor’s overall profit earning is like comparing apples with oranges”.
“I can’t specifically comment on anyone else but I am doing my fourth film as a producer with Akshay Sir and I find him most fair when it comes to charging his fees,” the Mitron actor said.
