Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan came to theatres amid high expectations and took over the world by storm. It’s been 6 days since the film’s release and it is just growing and breaking all the records out there. While the film is being lauded as well as its performances, there is one actor who has especially caught the eye. Bhutanese actor Sangay Tsheltrim has received appreciation for his work in the film. But the interesting thing is that the title of the film is what he also once was, a ‘Jawan’.
Sangay Tsheltrim was an army man
Sangay is actually an ex-Army officer. He was a part of the Royal Bodyguard of Bhutan. It is an elite task force for the security of the King and other members of the royal family. According to a report in The Print, in December 2005, Sangay Tsheltrim was commissioned into the Royal Bhutan Army. Initially, he was stationed along the northern borders of China and Bhutan. Sangay had shared a picture from his army days on Instagram, standing with the King of Bhutan.
Sangay’s film career
The ex-Army officer decided to pursue an acting career later on. He made his debut as an actor in the 2018 Bhutanese film Singye. He even won Best newcomer award for the film and commercially, it was a blockbuster. Sangay then went ahead to test waters in Indian cinema and made his Bollywood debut with Salman Khan starrer Radhe.
Post that, he got to work with another Khan, SRK in Jawan. In an interview with Connect FM Canada, he had spoken about their first meeting when King Khan hugged him for accepting the role. Sangay is not only an actor but also a producer. His company is called Sangay Tsheltrim Films and made the film Lingpoen which released in March. Apart from that, he also featured in Mohit Raina’s The Freelancer recently.
