Saif Ali Khan and director Vishal Bhardwaj worked together in the film ‘Omkara’, adapted from Shakespeare’s ‘Othello’, 10 years ago, where they had also discussed ‘Rangoon’ and 10 years later, here they are working on the same.
Saif was one of the first actors with whom the filmmaker had indulged in early discussions regarding the concept and script of Sajid Nadiadwala’s ‘Rangoon’. The movie now has Saif playing a pivotal role, also featuring Kangana Ranaut and Shahid Kapoor. (Also Read: Despite suffering from flu, Shahid Kapoor promotes ‘Rangoon’)
Accidentally, both Saif and Vishal are popular Shakespeare lovers and also have a similar taste in cinema. The things they discussed about ‘Rangoon’ were on an informal level. After multiple developments and working on the script, Vishal then took the final script of the film to Saif Ali Khan and he loved it too. As life comes a full circle, ‘Rangoon’ turns out to be the second collaboration of Vishal Bhardwaj and Saif Ali Khan after ‘Omkara’, which was a box office success and garnered praises from critics and audience alike for its unique content. The film also starred Saif’s now wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan.
Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under the banners of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, the movie is all set to hit the theatres on February 24, 2017 and revolves around the backdrop of World War 2.
