However, quite interestingly, director Karan Johar later shared how he thought the ‘politics’ behind the film wasn’t correct. This referred to the fact that Rahul (SRK) fell in love with Anjali (Kajol) not when she was this tomboyish young girl, but later when she changed with time and started looking and acting like a woman. Now, veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar who recently appeared on SRK’s show ‘TED Talks India: Nayi Soch’, revealed he was offered to pen lyrics for the film, but refused.
“I thought the movie’s name had a lot of double meaning. I was not convinced to write for this project,” he said.

However, he was quick enough to add that he loved ‘My Name is Khan’.
“But I was all praises for SRK in ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’, and I am happy I could be a part of the journey. I used the words I rejected earlier to make a more meaningful song which you all (audience) made popular. It was ‘Kuch Toh Hua Hai, Kuch Hogaya Hai’,” he added.
